I took this picture as I headed to my oncologist appointment yesterday...clearly fall is in the air! My appointment went well - skin is healing well and all looks good. I will return to Victoria and connect with my oncologist there. I continue to take Tamoxifen ( and will for the next 5 - 10 years) and so far my body seems to have adjusted pretty well to that also. There will likely be another surgery on the horizon (removal of ovaries) but I think I'll wait til Spring and just give my body a break!
Currently Paul, Becca and I have returned to Sauble beach, where we await the arrival of family and friends tomorrow, and with whom we'll celebrate our Annual Corn Roast on Sat night. It has been quite busy over the past couple of weeks as we have finished up house chores, and had the gift of connecting with many people. It has been a great summer, a healing summer. I am grateful for a workplace that has allowed me time, and for my family and friends who have given much support. While I feel pretty good, I am curious to see how the 10 or more hour days will go.... but we'll just keep doing the same thing - one day at a time.
Over the summer I have reflecting on what I want to be different in my life. We read all kinds of things about 'if I had it to do over, I would....'. I think the great news is we don't need to wait to get to regrets - we get to choose each day what we do. And while we may have a bad day, we don't need to have a bad week....while we may make mistakes, there is often learning in those also.
For me - I am hoping to stay close to this notion of living daily and being grateful. I have also realized and remembered the joy I find in swimming - so hope to build that into my routine. I am also conscious of what I am passionate about in my work and hope to spend honing and developing those passions.
It is hard to wrap up such a long summer 'at home' - and it is a gift to be returning to Victoria. I will continue to look forward and will be excited to see what emerges.
