Today I have been thinking more about numbers just from this week:
11 people I spent the weekend with at my cottage - 15 friends at the cottage next door!
8 people that stopped by my office informally to ask me how I was doing and get an update
18 - number of friends and family that texted good wishes and encouragement in the last 24 hrs
6 couple friends that are travelling to Parksville with Paul and I this weekend for a great getaway together
4 colleagues that offered just today to step into gaps my absence may leave in the next few weeks
1 brother that gave me air miles for my appointment next week so that I didn't have to pay the $1100 i needed for a ticket to go see the doctors in Peterborough
1 brother that has offered a cottage in Ontario at which to recover from treatments
3 kids that all checked in and shared great insights and thoughts about this next stage of the journey
12 friends that gathered last night and every two weeks to talk, share ideas and pray for one another
1 husband who continuously supports and encourages me - tonight he offered to shave his head when/if I lose my hair
1 God, that I believe has a plan for my life
1 life I have been given to live to the fullest
I could go on and on - one set of numbers seemed quite stark, scary even; the other life giving. Ironically, I realized that we all have both sets of numbers playing out in our lives.
I much prefer and am better with the second kind of numbers - and these 'numbers' are the silver lining in this healing journey... and so I remain a little anxious about how this will all play out, but mostly thankful for the blessings of the numbers.
